May Living Room: B-Corp Certification (hosted by Christina T. Miller Consulting)

    Online seminar • 12pm ET/9am PT, Friday May 19th 2023

Decide for yourself, is B-Corp certification right for you? We know that the work to improve your jewelry company’s business, sourcing, and production practices is not easy and we’ve had numerous conversations with jewelers in the past about how to best convey those efforts to consumers. With the complexity of jewelry industry issues in mind, is it even possible to easily and quickly convey the extent of your efforts to your clientele?

For this month’s Living Room, we’re bringing you insight into the B-Corp Certification from the nonprofit, B-Labs so that you can decide for yourself if it may be a good tool to add to your communications tool kit.

January Living Room: Redefining Recycled (hosted by Christina T. Miller Consulting)

    Online seminar • 12pm ET/9am PT, Friday 20th January

One of the jewelry industry’s definitions of recycled precious metals is being rewritten in 2023 and we’re concerned. You might be too.

Pasting Living Rooms have engaged in the conversation around recycled gold, but with this new opportunity to influence an actual definition that companies get certified as following, the first Living Room of 2023 returns to the topic.

Some industry standards already stretch recycled definitions by including newly mined gold that has been refined once and is now in the form of bullion as qualifying source material for meeting recycled standards. Now, the proposed definition includes newly mined material outright.

Not condoned in any standard, but a risk, is the inclusion of illicit gold laundered by recycling. Clearly, we need a better definition and we need better practices.
